Friends of Box Hill

A walk led by Gail Jeffcoate to explore the flowers, butterflies and other wildlife of Box Hill.  We will start at the car parking area just below Boxhurst and walk up to and along Dukes.

Professor Richard Selley, the renowned Geologist, will talk about Box Hill’s geology within the Mole Valley and will take us for a short walk to point features out to us. He will also bring along some fossils that have been found in this landscape.  

Although David Kennington will have retired as NT General Manager for Surrey Hills Countryside by then, he and Tracy are still happy to host this very popular event in their garden by Warren Farm Barns. Guests are welcome. £8 per head

Gail Jeffcoate (author of The Box Hill Book of Butterflies, and previous Butterfly Recorder for Surrey) will lead us on a nature walk to discover grassland plants including orchids, butterflies and other interesting wildlife.

A walk to discover and find out more about Box Hill's fungi. This gentle walk will be led by Dr Brian Spooner who was, until he retired, Head of Mycology at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Meet at the Pentagon Information Boards outside the café.

Amanda McCormick, NT Ranger will help us to make our own Christmas Wreath and other decorations.  The natural materials will be collected beforehand.  Please bring gloves and secateurs if you have them.  If you want to “bling” up your wreath bring your own materials.
