Field Studies Council, Juniper Hall Field Centre, Old London Road, Mickleham, RH5 6DA

Box Hill’s fame as a beauty spot and important wildlife site is well known and goes back hundreds of years. But, arguably, nothing in recent times has put Mole Valley and Box Hill ‘on the map’ more than the hosting of the 2012 Olympic Road Cycling Race. In this talk, Andrew Wright, National Trust Countryside Manager for the Surrey Hills-East, provides a behind-the-scenes insight into planning and hosting the Olympic cycling road race in a “warts’n’all” entertaining but truthful account of the highs and lows relating to the event and its ongoing legacy.

■ Tuesday 17 September: 19:30
Talk lasts 60 minutes – in the Templeton Room.
Directions: Juniper Hall is a large red-brick building on the B2209 about 1 mile north of the A24 Burford Bridge roundabout.
