Feeding, fighting, loving, living – True stories of Box Hill’s wildlife by Sarah Russell

At the time of writing this book, Sarah Russell worked as the National Trust learning warden on Box Hill. During her five years on the hill, she first told many of the stories in this book to the many visitors and school groups she worked with. The stories are brought to life by the vibrant, colourful and captivating paintings of local artist Gabby Girardey.

This book tells the strange but true stories of many Box Hill plants and animals. It aims to increase visitor appreciation of the wonderful wildlife of Box Hill by giving people a glimpse into their lives. From the dances of bees and dragonflies, to the jobs animals are doing every day, the wonderful variety and strange behaviour of our wildlife is told in this book. The stories cover all aspects of life, feeding, fighing, loving and living, including both rare and abundant species. The book also contains introductions to Box Hill habitats and tips for spotting the wildlife featured in the stories.
